Delivery - The jobs at this level will be task focused delivering defined activity or services.

Overview

Job holders within this Group Profile provide administrative support to managers and frontline staff by undertaking transactional work in a particular area. 

This is a non operational role which may involve contact with prisoners depending on their area of work. 

This role has no line management responsibilities.

Characteristics

Typical tasks associated with this Group Profile include: 

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team with the responsibility for initiating, implementing and maintaining The Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) standards of age-appropriate care and stimulation for infants
  • Organise and provide nursery facilities to meet the needs of the children and their mothers in the prison environment
  • Work with mothers to meet the needs of their children and, where appropriate, arrange outings with the children in the community
  • Recommend and maintain a varied and age-appropriate range of equipment, including toys
  • Ensure a high standard of safety in care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, assisting, where appropriate, with the reports for reviews and applications
  • Work with others to assist in the assessment and planning of services for mothers and babies on the Unit
  • Participate in regular team meetings
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Child Protection issues and a knowledge and application of relevant Child Protection procedures
  • Work within the constraints of the prison environment and transfer relevant information to Discipline staff and other colleagues

Essential Skills/Qualifications/Accreditation/Registration

Hold a Level 3 Industry Standard qualification on entry to the role.

Clear understanding of all Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) welfare requirements. 

An ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence through the medium of English or (where specified in Wales) Welsh
