The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) is now inviting applications for the salaried post of Employment Judge of the Employment Tribunals. There are 14.5 vacancies, to be filled on a full time or part-time basis, for immediate appointment to various regions across England. Employment Judges preside over Employment Tribunals, whose jurisdiction involves the hearing of a wide range of employment-based disputes or issues. The largest number of cases concerns unfair dismissal. A substantial number of claims include allegation of discrimination, breach of contract, unlawful deductions from wages, transfer of undertakings and public interest disclosure. The hearings may serve to determine a case, or may be restricted to a preliminary issue or an interlocutory hearing for directions. Cases may involve one applicant or anything up to a complete workforce.
