SOLICITOR
(3-5 YEARS PQE)
Main Objective
To represent the firm's clients in the conduct of their matters (especially commercial contracts work) providing legal advice and assistance in a professional manner whilst delivering the best possible service within this busy commercial law team. Experience of working in financial services would be an advantage but not essential. The ability to mentor and guide 2 less qualified colleagues would also be a requirement of this position, providing them with the guidance/support to enable them to grow further in their roles (2 years PQE & an LPC graduate).
This position is being offered as a 8-10 month contract covering maternity leave.
Main Tasks
To manage all client work allocated in accordance with the detailed procedures and quality standards contained in the firm's manuals and client protocols.
To ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously and that the client is kept regularly informed.
At all times to exercise high standards of client care in a professional manner.
To ensure the confidentiality of all the firm's clients and client documentation and information.
To achieve agreed levels of billing and time recording.
To ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
In conjunction with the firm to comply with the relevant training requirements of the Law Society and to assist with in-house training as may be required.
Technical Processes
To use at all times where appropriate the predefined technical processes of the firm, billing and client protocols relating to the management of the clients' accounts.
Review and prioritise all incoming post on the date of receipt.
Update technical processes on receipt of post on matters where a key date is involved.
Document each activity that has taken place.
Ensure time is recorded and recorded accurately.
Ensure each matter has a following-on diary action as appropriate
Ensure any engagement of a supplier is supported by a purchase order.
All supplier invoices are approved and passed to accounts.
Ensure that all conflicts complaints and potential acts of negligence are reported immediately to the Company Solicitor.
Files are closed in a timely manner and all relevant information provided to accounts.
Education & Experience:
min 3-5 years PQE Solicitor
Experience of working within the specific areas of law detailed preferred - commercial - essential / financial services - advantageous
Skills / Abilities:
Ability to work as a member of a team is vital
Good analytical and inter personal skills
Excellent communication skills
Professional ability - discretion in dealing with clients' matters.
Good organisational skills
Ability to work under pressure, attention to detail important.
Must be able to use own initiative and prioritise.
Flexibility is essential as is a good sense of humour.
