We are delighted to be recruiting two additional solicitors to join our busy employment department, one each for our Birmingham and London offices. Challenging and rewarding in equal measure, both roles offer an exciting diet of work with a focus on employment tribunal claims. Passion for employment law is a prerequisite as it previous hands-on tribunal experience. Job Summary The purpose of this role is to work as part of a team on a broad spectrum of employment law matters, and to provide a first class service to clients. Principal responsibilities · Working on employment matters of varying sizes and complexity, mainly focussing on Employment tribunal claims but potentially spanning: · Tribunal claims, including appeals to the Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal; · Capability, disciplinary and grievance matters; · Whistle-blowing; · Writing and reviewing HR policies, procedures and contracts; · Termination of employment including the negotiation and preparation of Compromise Agreements; · HR strategy including reorganisations, redundancies and acquisitions; · Equality and diversity and equal pay; and · TUPE in outsourcing, insourcing and other transactions. · Initiating, building and maintaining effective client relationships. · Pro-active involvement in marketing initiatives. · Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures. · Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions. · Training and development of junior legal staff and secretary (where appropriate). Person specification The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at the solicitor grade. In particular, for this role we require strong client focus, the ability to manage files with some supervision and a genuine passion and flair for employment law. Experience and qualifications · Excellent academic record · Qualified solicitor with relevant post-qualification experience, specifically in running employment tribunal claims. It is unlikely that this requirement will be satisfied without at least one year of post-qualification experience at a commercial firm. · For the London role, a minimum of one seat in employment with specific exposure to employment tribunal claims is required. For Birmingham, it is unlikely that a candidate with less than one year of post qualification experience of tribunal claims will satisfy our requirements.
