- The Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS), also known as Clare’s Law gives victims the opportunity to apply for information about someone they are in a relationship with (right to ask), or in a relationship with someone they know (right to know)
- Under the DVDS scheme the applicant will need to give their name, address and date of birth and some initial checks will be done to establish if there are any immediate concerns
- For further information about the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme, or to make a request for information under it, contact the Police on 101 or visit your nearest police station.

Advice please     (Posted on: 2014-11-11 18:12:08)

My granddaughters father has been in prison since January 2014 and was released only yesterday, however he was expecting to serve 13 years in prison! My question is I obviously know his name, the court where he appeared several times, even the prison where he served his time but I cannot find out exactly what he did for him to end up in prison. I have found his name on the and the names of the four other men who were also involved in whatever he did but I can\'t find out the crime he committed. I am worried because this is the third time he has been in prison at least to my knowledge. My daughter denies knowing what he has been in prison for but I need to know because I am concerned for  my granddaughters well being, she is only 2 years old. Is there anyway that I could find out, visiting the court for example? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help, from one very concerned grandparent.
