Historical Records     (Posted on: 2012-12-23 17:18:48)

I have seen a report in the Western Daily Press, 7th September 1921, of a case heard at Bristol Police Court (Magistrates I think) involving John Hamilton, (who may be my grandfather) and Robert Hunter. They were charged with breaking and entering a shop at 373/373 Stapleton Road Bristol and found guilty. John Hamilton was handed a sentence of two months imprisonment. The article quotes that he was well known in Soutampton (where he and my grandmother married)

My question here is really a familyhistory one. I have not been able to trace him prior to joining the British Army during WW1 and subsequently being demobbed at the end of the war, joining the Merchant Navy and marrying my grandmother in 1920. I am desperate to find out any information that may lead to his family in Cork or any other information that may be of interest. For this reason I wondered whether the court/police records were still available for research.  Unfortunately the WW1 records have not survived other than his medal card record.
