Re:Son charged - robbery (Posted on: 2012-04-11 14:46:34)
Judges (or Magistrates) have to consider mitigating and aggravating factors before they decide on a sentence. It doesn\'t seem as though your son planned to rob anyone and it was a chance meeting with the other boy which led to the crime. Here\'s a link to a page about sentencing guidelines, also Google \'sentencing guidelines for robbery offences\' to get other answers.http://sentencingcouncil.judiciary.gov.uk/sentencing-guidelines.htm |

Son charged - robbery (Posted on: 2012-04-07 17:21:07)
my 14 year old son, was with the wrong person on 21/12/11 and was somehow persuaded to commit robbery with this person (another 14 year old). this is not one of my sons friends just someone from school he bumped into. this other boy had a knife which he put in my sons jacket and a gun (imitation) in his own, even when the entered the shop my son still didnt believe the other lad would go ahead with it. £30 and cigarettes were demanded by the other boy after he had took the knife out of my sons coat, my son never stepped more the 2 steps inside the shop (fully supported by cctv and the shop owner) this has been ongoing since then and my son has a tag on with bail conditions, due for sentencing end of may. I am worried sick, my son is a good lad (u prob find that hard to believe) but he is, i have numerous character references including one from every teacher at his school who are all very shocked and surprised that he would be involved in this and this is very much out of character for him. What can i do, and what likely sentence will he get, he would never cope in a young offenders place he is quiet and sensitive and this has affected the whole family |
