Dear admin, Many thanks for your sentence database. I am a university researcher and I have used the sentence database to search for records associated with the London riots to explore this topic. I know that the database is not comprehensive of all cases sentenced in the UK, however, could you please let me know the sampling technique that you use to determine which cases were or were not included? Kindest regards

I seem to be having the same problem. I know most of the dates of the 2 trials at Aylesbury Crown Court, the Defendants name, the date of the Court of Appeal hearing at the RCJ, but yet nothing comes up in any search, either dates, name or court.
Please help!

The sentences database is updated
daily and revisited at the end of each month. The database contains a
wide range of cases and many cases remain unreported anywhere else,
however it is not comprehensive. That
said, if you are looking for a particular crown court case, we are able
to provide you with the result (if there are no reporting
restrictions on that case).
The aim of the website is to assist the business community and the
public with access to justice and provide insight and information for
the legal community and users of legal service providers.
You can use the website to see
who was instructed in a case to help pinpoint an experienced
professional for your matter whether you are a public user or a legal
professional. The database is also used as a guide to sentences that are being handed down for a particular offence. We publish court lists, criminal sentences and notable
litigation cases linked to solicitors and chambers profiles for this
purpose.

Is there any particular reason why knowing the name of a defendent, court and approximate date of hearing (within 1 month window) I cannot find any matching records? Are all crown court cases recorded or just some? |
