Manslaughter is where the offender has committed a criminal act or omission causing the death of another person. The victim has died. Manslaughter cases vary in seriousness as the circumstances vary greatly. Sentencing Council member Lord Justice Holroyde said: \"Manslaughter offences vary hugely – some cases are not far from being an accident, while others may be just short of murder.
