You should raise your concerns with the solicitor as soon as possible (if he hasn't got one then he definately should get one!) They may be able to tell you who signed them (if he is under 17 then it may have been an appropriate adult?) and whether or not it means it is inadmissable in court. There may be a simple explanation, and a solicitor will be able to tell you.

Maybe two people both charged with the same offence presumably, or both connected with a civil action. Often this can be the case with married couples, or directors of a company, only one name is used like (Harrods v Crown) but there can be two defendants in the same hearing, sentenced together in a criminal hearing.
