Re:Desperately need help and advice regarding benefit fraud. (Posted on: 2012-10-31 17:44:32)
See sentences for similar offences here and get advice from a solicitor. It will depend on how long and how much money was overpaid as a result of your partners failure to notify. As a first offence the sentences tend to be non-custodial or suspended. |

Desperately need help and advice regarding benefit fraud. (Posted on: 2012-10-29 21:35:56)
I\'ve recently found out my wife has been claiming benefits she was not entitled to. This goes back over about six months and she has lived with me for all that time, but falsely claimed as a single person because she knew my income would preclude her from being able to get these benefits. I know this all sounds improbable and we must have a terrible relationship if a man cannot tell what his wife is doing in the same house as him, but that\'s the way it is. After much soul searching over the weekend we have agreed to stay together if she goes to the DWP in the morning and owns up to what she has done. My question is what can she expect to get and how will the system deal with her ? Also how do I protect myself if the DWP do not believe I knew nothing of this? I would add that the she has only admitted to six months worth of fraud to me, but it took a long time to get that out of her and I have serious suspicions that it may well have gone on much longer than that.....we have been married for nearly 20 years, during all of which I have been a successful small businessman and have never had to claim any benefits for either of us........obviously I was stupid enough to not give her enough of a share of my success as to make it unneccessary for her to do this. |
